Ramsar Citrus Gardners Cooperative, known as Kowsar Agro-Industrial Factories, was established in 1967 by Seyed Abolhasan Mirtalebi and Mohammad Ali Ahmadnejad. The company’s shares belong to the people and farmers of the region. This company was founded to supply the needs of farmers in the region, including various chemical fertilizers, pesticides, citrus packaging paper, etc. Over time, with the purchase of pieces of equipment such as sorting and citrus packaging machines, the members reached 9,500 people. In 1970, by purchasing citrus processing machinery, Ramsar Citrus Gardners Cooperative used the products of the region’s farmers to produce citrus concentrate and created high efficiency. Storing and producing citrus required building a cold storage facility, achieved in those years by constructing a 2,000-ton cold storage, thus resolving the citrus storage problem in the Ramsar region. In 2003, the company started new production lines, which led to a boom in syrup, fruit juice, and year-round job creation for the youth. Products are produced and offered under the Ramsar brand or Kowsar Citrus Cooperative Company.
